Almaty. August 17. Silkroadnews – The U.S. President Donald Trump’s strategist Steve Bannon told about the economic war between the U.S. and China, Russian news portal RBC reported.
“We’re at economic war with China. On Korea, they’re just tapping us along. It’s just a sideshow”, Steve Bannon is quoted following his interview with The American Prospect, the report said.
“It’s in all their literature. They’re not shy about saying what they’re doing. One of us is going to be a hegemon in 25 or 30 years and it’s gonna be them if we go down this path. On Korea, they’re just tapping us along. It’s just a sideshow”, the publication quotes S. Bannon saying.
S. Bannon told for him the economic war with China is everything, and the U.S. have to be manically focused on that. In case the U.S. continues to lose the fight in ten years there can be a point of inflection from which the U.S. will never be able to recover and compete with China.
According to the publication, Bannon’s plan of attack includes: a complaint under Section 301 of the 1974 Trade Act against Chinese coercion of technology transfers from American corporations doing business there, and follow-up complaints against steel and aluminum dumping.
As reported earlier, President Trump instructed the U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to consider the possibility of initiating an investigation against China on possible violation of the U.S. intellectual property rights.
In turn, China’s ministry of commerce stated that the PRC will not leave unanswered any restrictive measures the U.S. could impose under the pretext of protecting intellectual property.
