Turkmenistan and China will expand oil and gas cooperation

Almaty. June 15. Silkroadnews – Turkmenistan and China noted their mutual interest to develop cooperation in the oil and gas industry, Trend reports.

This was announced at the meeting with the Chief of the Division of External Relations of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China Song Tao.

Speaking about diversification of trade and economic cooperation, the parties discussed the issues of using the Chinese experience in the modernization of Turkmenistan’s industrial potential.

The Turkmen side’s support of the Chinese initiatives on the construction of the Silk Road economic belt agreeing with the initiatives of Turkmenistan in the transport and energy fields has been noted.

During the meeting both side have also noted the similarity of their positions and approaches in solving the urgent problems of development, including the issues of peace, security and sustainable development in the region and around the world.

China is the largest foreign trade partner of Turkmenistan. Beijing expects to increase annual purchases of Turkmen gas up to 65 billion cubic meters.
