Turkmenistan has temporarily closed the border with Kazakhstan

Almaty. July 20. Silkroadnews – Turkmenistan has temporarily closed the border with Kazakhstan, KazTAG reports with reference to the State Revenue Department of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Finance.

“Turkmenistan has strengthened security measures at the border, so for foreign citizens arriving to the republic within simplified border-crossing regime the entry has been stopped for the period of five days,” the department’s officials informed on Wednesday.

According to the previous agreements, for those citizens of Kazakhstan who are residents of the Mangistau region it is allowed to enter, leave and stay in the territory of the Balkan province of Turkmenistan without a visa for up to 5 days inclusive.

“In accordance with the national legislation of the Republic of Turkmenistan stay of citizens of Kazakhstan over the terms of the simplified entry shall be registered on the basis of visas issued in the established order,” the text says.
The car checkpoint “Temir-Baba”, with the customs checkpoint of the same name, and “Bolashak” railway customs post are located on the Kazakh-Turkmen border.
