U.S. to provide Afghanistan with $100 million for reforms in budget planning

Beijing. January 24. Silkroadnews - The U.S. government will provide Afghanistan with $100 million to support local governance and economic development projects, the Afghan News Agency (AfTAG) reports.
Afghanistan’s Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi and U.S. Ambassador John Bass signed an appropriate agreement at the presidential palace in Kabul.
The funds will be provided within the framework of the Afghan-US partnership agreement dated August 2015. The United States said to provide $800 million for the specified purposes over 4 years.
Financial assistance was provided to Afghanistan as a reward for successful reforms in the public revenues, raising management efficiency, regional budget planning, development of women’s economic rights and other achievements.
According to the head of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Finance, in the future the funds will be used to implement the railway construction projects, opening of air service between Kabul and the Persian Gulf countries, as well as construction of storage facilities for export products.
The U.S. Ambassador Bass hailed Afghanistan's budget reforms and said his country will continue to provide economic assistance to the republic in this direction, 1TV channel reported.
