Almaty. January 10. Silkroadnews – According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Afghanistan is considered to be one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

“Afghanistan still remains to be one of the most dangerous places on Earth. The people of this country continue to die, become internally displaced and suffer deprivation. Last year, the number of Afghans in need of assistance grew by 13 percent and currently stands at 9.3 million people”, site of the UN News Centre says.

According to the UN Office data, the number of victims among the civilians in Afghanistan’s conflict totaled 8397 people for the first nine months of 2016; the number of children among them increased by 15%.

“Most of the civilians in Afghanistan are killed as a result of land-based military operations, but many, especially children, become victims to unexploded shells”, the information says.

The record number of internally displaced persons was registered in the country in 2016. Only in November half a million people left their homes, more than a half of them are children. According to reports, they were subjected to violence, including sexual abuse, forced to work and girls were forced to marry.

“The number of people starving also grows: in 20 out of the 34 provinces the malnutrition exceeded emergency indicators. 1.3 million malnourished children need urgent medical care”, the UN administration reports.

More than 9 million people in the country do not have an access to medical care. As a result, Afghanistan is known for the world’s highest rates of maternal and infant mortality. The country registers 327 maternal deaths per 100 thousand maternity patients, while the number of infant deaths makes 73 deaths per 1 000 live births.
