US and Qatar to continue working together to fight against IS and resist Iran: Pentagon

Beijing. April 10. Silkroadnews - The United States intends to continue cooperation with Qatar to strengthen stability in the Middle East, including joint struggle against the terrorist group “Islamic State” and counteraction to Iran’s influence in the region, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports citing James Mattis, United States Secretary of Defense.
“With this spirit of collaboration, we intend to continue working together for stability and security in the turbulent Middle East.  And that teamwork bolsters our effectiveness on many fronts, and particularly on counter -- countering terrorism and defeating ISIS, plus countering the spread of Iran's malign influence in the region,” the statement by J.Mattis said as released by the department press service.
In addition, on Friday the Pentagon announced the decision by the U.S. Department of the State to approve the possible sale of components of aviation missiles to Qatar for a total of $300 million. The deal should be considered by the U.S. Congress.
