US does not feed imperial ambitions in respect of Central Asian countries and Afghanistan
Astana. October 27. Silkroadnews - US does not have any imperial ambitions with regard to the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan, reports KazTAG citing the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Richard Hoagland.
"By the end of 2014, which is not far off, the United States will end its combat operations in Afghanistan, but we, like other international friends of Afghanistan did not have any intention to quit Afghanistan and do not intend to do so in the near future. Allow me to be here is very sharp and clear, it does not mean that we are looking for their presence, any military base or any form of military presence in the region", - said R. Hoagland on Monday at a round table discussion on US policy in the region and the Kazakh-American relations.
"We have strong relations with all countries of the region, but that does not mean that we have certain military or imperial desires regarding the countries of this region", - he added.
