US passed to the Border Service of Kazakhstan equipment for $3 million

Astana. November 25. Silkroadnews - United States passed to the Border Service of Kazakhstan 11 modular systems and associated equipment costing $3 million, informs the press service of the US Embassy in Kazakhstan.
"On November 24, US Ambassador John Ordway gave eleven modular systems and related equipment, worth $3,028,985 to the Border Service of Kazakhstan", - said in a statement published on the official website of the US Embassy in Kazakhstan.
It is noted that the ceremony of the official handover took place in the paragraph of technical supervision "Cape Rocky", located in the Mangistau region.
"Modular systems will help the Border Guard Service in expanding its presence along the first unoccupied border points in the Mangistau region", - added the press-service.
According to the embassy, the US State Department established a program of export control and related border security in 2001 to assist in the strengthening of the strategic trade control and the establishment of sustainable opportunities for the services responsible for border protection, to prevent, investigate and prosecute illegal transportation weapons of mass destruction (WMD) related to WMD materials and advanced conventional weapons.
Today EXBS program has contributed the sum of $27 million in the form of technical assistance in the execution of obligations to assist Kazakhstan in the efforts to combat the proliferation of WMD.
