Almaty. November 23. Silkroadnews - The US plans to create alternative political force in the north of Syria, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to Kommersant.
After overthrow of the IS terrorist organization the U.S. plans to support its military presence in Syria and establish a new government in the north of the country. In case the U.S. pulls out of the country, President Bashar al-Assad will remain in power, thus, Washington intends to continue supporting the Arab-Kurdish detachments of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) in the north of the country,” the agency’s sources in the U.S. reported on Thursday.
The U.S. plan using its military presence as a diplomatic trump card.
“The U.S. contingent could exert pressure and force Mr. Assad to make concessions during the Geneva talks to be resumed at the end of November,” the report said.
Earlier, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy to Counter ISIS Brett McGurk said the militants of the group lost 95% of the territory they previously controlled in Iraq and Syria.
