US sends additional forces to Afghanistan

Almaty. August 8. Silkroadnews – The U.S. will send additional forces of marines to Afghanistan, Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports with reference to NBC news.
On Monday the officials told media that dozens more Marines will be sent to Helmand province to help with internal force protection. It is noted that “this deployment is not tied to the Trump administration’s” strategy for Afghanistan.
The request came from the commander on the ground, Marine Brig. Gen. Roger Turner and was approved by Gen. Joseph Votel at Central Command.
The Marines will deploy from the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force.
