Beijing. May 4. Silkroadnews - The US warn China of consequences on its growing militarization, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to TASS.
According to the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, China’s current military actions that affect the interests of other countries will not be without consequences.
“We’re well aware of China’s militarization of the South China Sea. We’ve raised concerns directly with the Chinese about this.  And there will be near-term and long-term consequences,” S. Sanders said.
To remind, on May 3, it was reported that the PRC military had deployed the weapons systems at the disputed islands in the South China Sea, including anti-ship missile systems and anti-aircraft defense systems. The anti-ship missiles allegedly allow the Chinese military to strike ships up to 295 nautical miles (about 546 km) radius, and also hit air targets at a distance of 160 nautical miles (about 296 km).
The territorial dispute over the Spratly Islands (Nansha) is now one of the most serious issues discussed for many years between a number of ASEAN countries - Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and China. The main reason for the recent years’ tension is the attempt to establish control, including one secured by the military forces, over the area near the Strait of Malacca, through which about 60% of Chinese trade and up to 80% of China’s hydrocarbon imports pass.
