Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan agreed on cooperation in oil and gas exploration

Almaty. May 19. Silkroadnews – Azerbaijan’s state company SOCAR and Uzbekistan’s National Holding Company “Uzbekneftegaz” have signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation development, SOCAR company press-release informs.

The memorandum was signed during the visit of a SOCAR delegation headed by the company’s president Rovnag Abdullayev to Tashkent to participate in the 20th anniversary “Uzbekistan Oil&Gas-2016” exhibition and conference.
The head of SOCAR met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Gulomjon Ibragimov and chairman of the board of directors of “Uzbekneftegaz” Alisher Sultanov to discuss the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, prospects for expansion of ties in the energy sector and cooperation between the two state oil companies.

“Following the meeting the memorandum of understanding between SOCAR and “Uzbekneftegaz” has been signed covering the scope of joint exploration and development of oil and gas fields and other areas of potential cooperation,” the statement said.
