Uzbekistan and China signed joint declaration on strategic partnership

Almaty. June 23. Silkroadnews – President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, UzTAG reported.

“During the meeting in narrow format the parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues on the current state and prospects of further development for cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the publication states.

During the talks, the parties agreed on consistent continuation of the political dialogue, further expansion of cooperation in such areas as trade, industry, economy, energy, science and education, culture. Attention was focused on strengthening the region’s security and stability, as well as strengthening the joint opposition to international threats and challenges.

The heads of Uzbekistan and China continued negotiations with participation of official delegations of two countries. They discussed issues of cooperation in trade and economic, investment, finance, technology, energy, cultural and humanitarian fields, along with increase in trade volumes.

Following the talks, the sides signed the joint statement outlining the objective of further development of relations between two countries to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

The governments and ministries of two countries have also signed the documents on further development of cooperation in technical, economic, investment, trade areas, oil industry, intellectual property protection and other fields.
