Almaty. August 4 . Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan and Germany in the autumn of 2013 started negotiations on the revision of the agreement on the use of transport and transshipment hub based on the Termez airport (south of Uzbekistan on the border with Afghanistan), reports UzTAG.
The Uzbek side, in order to maintain the infrastructure of this important strategic military facility in good condition, proposes to increase the rent for the use by German Termez airport, said the publication 12news.uz.so citing its sources.
"Representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany do not give a clear answer to Uzbek side, do not represent the specific arguments in defense of its position, limiting to vague promises and statements", - writes the 12news.uz.
Experts from Internet editions express opinion that, in fact, Germany  shall be more than Uzbekistan interested in maintaining its presence at the airport, which is considered strategically important point for the transport of non-military goods of NATO troops, as Germany itself is an active member of NATO.
"NATO can seriosly suffer if Berlin will be gone from the airport, because without the active support of Uzbekistan to North Atlantic Alliance it will be very difficult to withdraw troops from Afghanistan and to ensure transfer of goods to this country. Anyway, Germany continues to delay the decision on "Termez issue". In this case Germany not only runs the risk to be left with nothing, but also can spoil relations with Uzbekistan, which is a key state in Central Asia and plays an important role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan", - said in a statement.
Termez deployed about 300 soldiers of the Bundeswehr. Germany since the use of the aerodrome has invested 12 million euros, mainly in upgrading runways.
