Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will jointly develop measures to protect the border with Afghanistan

Almaty. October 9. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan jointly develop measures for the security of its border with Afghanistan, in connection with the deterioration of the situation in the neighboring country. Such a statement was made by the two presidents Islam Karimov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov after talks in Tashkent, passes UzTAG.
According to the President of Uzbekistan, the Taliban attacks against government troops in northern Afghanistan disturbs neighboring countries.
In turn, G. Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's position that "peace in Afghanistan can be achieved only through political and diplomatic means, and through the consistent implementation of major infrastructure projects aimed at reviving the economy and social life of the Afghan people".
The parties also expressed their common views on water and energy issues in Central Asia on the basis of norms and principles of international law, taking into account the interests and consent of all countries in the region. The two presidents spoke in favor of active development of transport and transit potential of both countries.
As a result of the meeting signed several agreements.
