Uzbekistan builds the railway transit of goods via Iran

Almaty. June 26. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan intends to increase the transit of its goods through the territory of Iran by rail, passes IrTAG on Friday.
"The agreement was reached at the meeting of the Director of the transit of Iranian Railways (IR) Muhammad Gharavi with the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev", - says the publication.
According to M.Gharavi, during the meeting the sides exchanged views on ways to the best use the railway network of Iran for transportation and transit of goods and cargoes belonging to Uzbekistan. In particular, the sides discussed specific proposals for delivery of Uzbek cotton and chemical fertilizers by rail to the seaports of Iran in the Persian Gulf with a view to their subsequent shipment to world markets.
According to the management, at the meeting it was agreed to increase the volume of transit of Uzbek cotton, and chemical fertilizers to 400 thousand tonnes and 300 thousand tonnes, respectively. Moreover, in the medium term the Uzbek side is planning to send by the Iranian railways up to 1 million tons of chemical fertilizers per year.
