Almaty. November 27. Silkroadnews - Russia should abandon the re-export of Uzbek fruit and vegetables from Kazakhstan and establish direct supply of these products. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov, KazTAG.
"The supply of our fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan this year increased by 10% and as much fell in Russia, because Uzbek products do not have the tariff preferences that have partners in the Customs Union", - said Azimov at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, held in Tashkent.
In his view, this leads to an opaque, "gray" schemes of trade, when Uzbek goods imported into one of the country and from there is re-exported to other countries under the brands of these countries.
"Direct delivery of our fruits and vegetables can be developed if Russia provide Uzbekistan by tariff preferences for shipping, it will take away from the chain the re-export", - said Azimov.
"Antis sanctions measures of Russia against imports of some goods also have a negative impact on the supply and transit flows from Uzbekistan, and we hope that Russia will settle the issue in accordance with our interests", - said Azimov.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the problems and issues in preparation for the signing of an agreement on the main directions of development of economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan for 2015-2019 years.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan and investment, trade turnover between the two countries in January-September decreased by 11% to $4.56 billion by reducing the supply of Uzbek value-added products both in value and volume terms. According to the Russian side, the trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan for 9 months. this year increased by 8%. This discrepancy in performance due to the fact that the Russian statistics do not include the supply of Uzbek gas, as well as services rendered.
