Uzbekistan electrified news section of railway linking China and Central Asia

Almaty. September 21. SIlkroadnews - JSC "Uzbekistan Temir Yollari" ("Uzbekistan Railways") electrified the new site "Pap - Kokand - Andijan" in the east, KazTAG reports citing a government decree.
A plot with the length of 186 km will be the continuation of the electrified line "Angren-Pap", the construction of which is carried out since July 2013. Funding for the electrification of the new site will be funded by savings from the project "Angren-Pap".
Input of the line "Angren-Pap" with the length of 124 km is planned for July 2016. The road will pass through the pass "Kamchik" and connect the Fergana Valley with the rest of Uzbekistan, and will be part of the international transit railway corridor "China - Central Asia to Europe". Construction of the tunnel for the new line worth $455 million will make the Chinese company China Railway Tunnel Group. Funding for the project worth $1.68 billion will be at the expense of loans from international financial institutions and the own funds of the Uzbek side.
