Uzbekistan from 1 September banned the export of fruit and vegetables by road
Almaty. September 2. Silkroadnews - From September 1, 2015 the export of fruit and vegetables, potatoes, melons and grapes from Uzbekistan is carried out exclusively by railway and air transport. The resolution was adopted to ensure the transparency of customs clearance procedures for export contracts of these kinds of products and prevent their illegal movement across the customs border of the country, reported KazTAG citing a government decree.
From October 1 this year in Uzbekistan will also be implemented the register of unfair exporters and their founders in the implementation of the export of fruit and vegetables, potatoes, melons and grapes, stated in the decree.
According to the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the country, for Kazakhstan accounts 35% of detected smuggling of agricultural products from Uzbekistan.
In 2015, the volume of fruit and vegetable production in Uzbekistan is planned at 15.5 million tons against 14.9 million tons in 2014. At the same time, according to various estimates, only 500 thousand tons per year from the specified volume is exported to the CIS countries - mainly to Russia and Kazakhstan.
