Uzbekistan increased import of Kazakh flour by 4.9% in the I half

Astana. July 28. Silkroadnews - Kazakhstan increased exports of wheat or rye flour to Uzbekistan in January-June 2014 to 442.5 thousand tons for $111.6 million, which is 4.9% more in quantity and 10.3% less in amount then the same period in 2013, KazTAG.
As noted in the published data of Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance, excluding the countries of the Customs Union, Kazakhstan increased flour exports in January-June to 886 thousand tons for $ 260.6 million, which is 21.3% more in quantity and 9,6% more in amount then the same period in 2013.
The largest buyers of Kazakh flour in January-June were: Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan.
Small parties of Kazakh flour also bought: Mongolia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, China, UAE, Netherlands.
Traditional buyers of Kazakh flour - the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan - in recent years have introduced excise taxes on imports of flour in order to develop their own milling industry.
Recall, from August 1, 2013 Uzbekistan, who bought more than half of Kazakhstan's  flour in 2013 (977.4 thousand tons from 1.8 million tons), has reduced the excise duty on imports of wheat flour from 15% to 11%. This excise tax was introduced on 1 April 2011.
In Kyrgyzstan, the import duty on the import of flour is 3 soms for 1 kg ($1 = 51.8 soms). The authorities of Kyrgyzstan are to discuss the possibility of introducing quotas on imports of Kazakh flour.
