Uzbekistan reduced excise taxes on agricultural products imported from Kazakhstan

Almaty. April 20. Silkroadnews – Uzbekistan reduced excise taxes on agricultural products imported from Kazakhstan, press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan informed.

“Since April 1, 2017, Uzbekistan has changed excise taxes on imported agricultural products. (...) For agricultural products imported to Uzbekistan (from Kazakhstan – Silkroadnews) the excise taxes have been reduced: by 55% for wheat flour (from 11% to 5%); two times for sunflower and safflower oil (from 20% to 10%); five times for canned vegetables w/t vinegar (from 50% to 10%); 2.3 times on fruit and vegetable juices (from 70% to 30%); 2.8 times for products for sauces (from 70% to 25%, excluding tomato ketchup and mayonnaise)”, report released on Thursday says.

The excise tax was also abolished for macaroni products (earlier it amounted to 30% and 50%).

Such measures are expected to create favorable environment for the Kazakhstani producers to enter the Uzbek market with their agricultural products.

According to the Ministry, last year the export of Kazakhstani agricultural and processing products (90 product items) to Uzbekistan amounted to $426.9 million, including 1725.2 thousand tonnes of grain, 4.7 million tonnes of flour, 96 thousand tonnes of sunflower seeds, 10.2 thousand tonnes of vegetable oil and 51 thousand tonnes of potatoes.
