Uzbekistan’s exports of fruits and vegetables makes more than $2 billion

Almaty. July 20. Silkroadnews – The first international fruit and vegetable fair held in Tashkent resulted in 270 contracts signed to the amount of more than $2 billion, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports with reference to “Uzbekozikovkatholding”.

“As a result of the fair, 270 contracts totaling more than $2 billion have been made with the companies, large processors and trade organizations of 30 countries such as Russia, U.S., China, England, Germany, UAE, Japan, India, Turkey and others”, the statement says.

The total amount of exported fruits and vegetables will make 2.4 million tonnes, of which 857 thousand tonnes ($718 million) to be exported before the end of this year.

“27% of export products will be vegetables, 25% – grapes, 20% – fruits, 17.6% – dried and processed products, 8.4% – beans, 2% – melons”, is noted in the text.

To remind, on July 14-16, Tashkent for the first time hosted the International Fair of fruits and vegetables. It was attended by more than 300 representatives of foreign processing and trading companies, international trade organizations, chambers of commerce, ministries and departments of agriculture sector and logistics companies from over 27 countries.

The total number of fair participants exceeded 1.2 thousand people, while the number of visitors amounted to more than 10 thousand people.
