Uzbekistan shall use $17.3 billion of investment in 2016

Almaty. January 18. Silkroadnews - This year Uzbekistan is going to direct $17.3 billion investments to the development, modernization and structural transformation of the economy, which is 9.3% higher versus last year. This statement was made by President Islam Karimov during his presentation at the meeting of the government on the results of 2015, UzTAG reports.
“Foreign investments will make more than $4 billion out of these funds, which is 20.8% increase compared to 2015. In 2016 we plan to put into operation 164 major investment projects worth more than $5 billion”, president emphasized.
This year, the head of the state also added, growth for GDP is expected at 7.8% level, for the volume of industrial production - 8.2%, agriculture - 6.1%, retail trade - 14%, services - 17.4 %. Inflation shall remain within 5.5-6.5%.
In addition, the government has set a goal to ensure the growth of real incomes of the population by 9.5%, the average wages, pensions, scholarships and grants with account the tax benefits provided by 15%.
Karimov also said in 2016 it is planned to build 13 thousand of residential buildings, with a total area of more than 1.80 million square meters, in rural areas, along with 900 km of water, gas and electricity and 325 km of access roads.
