Uzbekistan to raise trade with Afghanistan up to $1.5 billion

Beijing. March 26. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan plans to raise the trade turnover with Afghanistan up to $1.5 billion in the coming years, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reported.
To achieve the goal, as the country’s ministry of foreign affairs says, a “road map” has been adopted in early 2017 following the instructions by the President of Uzbekistan.
Over the past year and a half, the volume of bilateral Uzbek-Afghan trade has grown and expanded due to new products added to its structure.
Thus, as a result of 2017, the volume of trade has grown 15% and amounted to about $600 million. In January 2018, the volume of trade compared to the same period of last year increased by 30%.
To remind, the Merchant House of Uzbekistan with a permanent exhibition “Made in Uzbekistan” was opened and operates in Kabul. The “Uztrade” show-room was also opened in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in September 2017. The contracts worth more than $29 million have been signed between the Uzbek and Afghan partners.
A customs terminal and an international logistics center have been established in Termez to generate more opportunities to boost cooperation between the two countries.
