Uzbekistan will allocate $3 billion to save the Aral Sea
Almaty. December 29. Silkroadnews - The Government of Uzbekistan will allocate $ 3.05 billion to mitigate the environmental disaster in the Aral Sea region, indicated in the decision of the Government, published on Monday.
Document approved the list of 16 national projects with a total value of $2.971 billion and a list of regional projects with a total value of $80.2 million. Projects will be financed through loans from international financial institutions in the amount of $2.15 billion and equity of the Uzbek side.
Agreement on the allocation of these funds have been made in the course international conference "Development cooperation in the Aral Sea basin to mitigate environmental disaster", held in the end of October in Urgench. The conference was organized by the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and the government of Uzbekistan.
