Uzbekistan will provide Tajikistan transit on alternative railway line

Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan intends to provide Tajikistan an opportunity for alternative transit rail line, reported Tajik Telegraph Agency (TadjikTA) on Monday.
"Management of "Uzbekistan Railways" decided on the beginning of Tajik transit on the new railway line in Uzbekistan" - said the media  representative of state railway company of the Republic, Utkur Astanov.
According to information, from the Tajik railroad was received proposals for reducing transit fees, and the company is already working on their decision.
"These proposals are concerned not alone tariffs, but also along routes. It was decided to start the transit of Tajikistan on a new line running on the territory of Uzbekistan. As for the reduction of tariffs, the final decision has not yet been made ​​"- said U. Astanov, adding that the new railway line significantly reduces the total length of the path for the transport of Tajikistan.
Recall Tajik railway reduced to their Uzbek colleagues tariffs on transit of certain goods to 50%. These tariff reductions will be also introduced to Kyrgyz carriers using transit cargo of Tajik railways.
Recall Uzbekistan regularly increased to Tajikistan transit fees. Thus, transit through the territory of Uzbekistan of 1 ton of fuel costs $197. The mutual reduction of tariffs for transit of 1 ton of fuel will cost Tajikistan $100.
