Volkswagen reported a reduction in sales in China

Almaty. July 21. Silkroadnews – Volkswagen reported a reduction in sales in China, Xinhua news agency reports.
“German carmaker Volkswagen posted slightly weaker auto sales in China in the first half of 2017, but demand for its luxury cars remained resilient, according to a report released by the company”, the report said.    
In January-June this year the company is said to deliver around 1.83 million vehicles to customers in the mainland China and Hong Kong, which is 1.6% less than a year ago. This June the company recorded a 5.2% increase in sales up to 315 thousand cars.
“Sales of Volkswagen models reached nearly 1.4 million units in China, and the SUV remained the primary force of growth for the group, with sales of the Tiguan model up 39 percent during the period”, the report says.
At the same time, Audi cars sales decreased 12.2% to 254.8 thousand and Skoda sales reduced 8.1% to 134 thousand units. In contrast, Porsche showed a significant increase of 17.8% to 35.9 thousand units.
According to publication, Volkswagen is the largest car manufacturer in Europe which owns 12 vehicle brands, including Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley. The concern vehicles are delivered to 153 countries and regions of the world. By 2016 the concern had 120 factories.
