Almaty. April 20. Silkroadnews - The volume of natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan to China in 2016 will grow to 40 billion cubic meters, reports Trend.
According to the report, last year China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has started in Turkmenistan the second stage of industrial development of the gas field Galkinish (the second largest in the world) to increase exports of fossil fuels, including to China.
According to the western experts, gas reserves in Galkinish together with the nearby fields, in particular in Yashlar estimated at 26.2 trillion cubic meters. Galkinish is at the next stage of development and construction of mining and processing of gas.
It is expected that the second phase of its development will be completed in 2021, and the processing capacity will reach 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The second stage of development, as well as a largest part of the first phase are funded by loans from State Bank of China. After completion of the second phase, the total volume of purified natural gas field at Galkinish will reach 60 billion cubic meters.
The second step of deposit development envisaged: drilling of 70 wells debit of which will be 2 million cubic meters in 24 hours, construction of two headworks for clean-up and workpiece with capacity of 15 billion cubic meters of commercial gas each, gas-plumes from boreholes to gas gathering points . Also planned the construction of six gas gathering points with a capacity of 5 billion cubic meters of raw gas per year each, creating multiple production lines for drying and purification of natural gas by heavy elements, the production of 235 thousand tonnes of salable condensate, production and packaging of two million tons of sulfur.
In addition, will be built a number of auxiliary facilities, central control panel, administrative complex, gas turbine power plant, gas export pipeline with length of 440 km, two compressor stations. Also, there will be built a shift camp with all necessary infrastructure for up to 2,440 people.
The first phase of development of Galkinish was completed in autumn 2013, and a significant part of the costs were paid by Chinese agents.
During the opening ceremony of the second stage of field, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of international gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China, which was commissioned in late 2009. In 2014, this pipeline planned to export to China 30 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas. In 2016 the volume of natural gas supplies to China will be brought up to 40 billion cubic meters, and since 2021 - up to 65 billion cubic meters annually.
