WB to allocate $100 million to improve public finance management in Afghanistan

Beijing. January 31. Silkroadnews - The Afghan government and the World Bank (WB) signed a memorandum of understanding on a $100 million grant be used to support the financial sector in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
The agreement was signed by the finance minister of Afghanistan Eklil Hakimi and the World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan Shubham Chaudhuri on the sidelines of the meeting of the High Economic Council.
According to the presidential palace, the funds will be allocated around four key sectors - budget as a tool for development to increase budget credibility, revenue mobilization to strengthen capacities of various revenue administration departments, treasury management, accountability, and transparency and institutional capacity building and performance management to reinforce overall performance management.
