Xi Jinping and Milos Zeman agreed on the implementation of the “China-EU 2020” strategic plan for cooperation

Almaty. March 31. Silkroadnews - Chinese President Xi Jinping in Prague held talks with Czech President Milos Zeman, Xinhua News Agency reports.

“Having hailed the positive momentum of bilateral relations the parties have discussed the issues concerning bilateral ties, China-Czech Republic relations as well as China-EU relations and cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries on international and regional issues of mutual interest,” the publication said.

The heads of the states agreed to lift the bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership.

The two sides also agreed to continue making close high-level contacts as the exemplary for over-all relations, enhancing friendly cooperation between ministries, legislative bodies and local governments. The parties agreed to strengthen the synergy of China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” with the development strategy of the Czech Republic.

The parties also decided to promote the development of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU and the implementation of the strategic plan “Cooperation between China and the EU – 2020”, as well as contributing to early negotiations and achievement of investment agreement between China and the EU.

The parties recognized that cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU are interdependent.
