Xi Jinping and Trump discussed importance of trade cooperation in a phone conversation

Beijing. May 10. Silkroadnews - In a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that China-US relations have entered a crucial period, Global Times reports.
Xi Jinping said, he pays great attention to the development of bilateral relations. He urged the US to follow the consensus reached during Trump’s visit to Beijing, and focus on cooperation and dispute settlement to proceed with steady and effective development of bilateral ties.
Chinese president also stressed that trade cooperation is a stabilizing factor in bilateral relations. China and the United States conducted fair, efficient and constructive trade talks in Beijing last week and should find the proper solutions to disputes and achieve a win-win outcome, he noted.
In his turn Trump said the US is ready to strengthen cooperation with China and deal with trade problems in a proper way.
Both leaders exchanged views on the situation on the Korean peninsula. Xi reaffirmed China’s position on the Peninsula issue and stressed that China supports the meeting of the leaders of the United States and North Korea.
Xi said he hopes that the US and North Korea will seek mutual trust and solve problems through the negotiations. He also noted that China is ready to continue actively promoting the denuclearization of the peninsula and establish long-term stability in the region.
Trump said the United States highly values the role that China plays, and will continue to work with China on the North Korean issue.
