Xi Jinping hopes to meet Obama in September to discuss the critical issues

Almaty. June 8. Silkroadnews – Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and the U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew visiting China to participate in the VIII round of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and VII round of the China-US high-level consultations on People-to-People Exchange, Xinhua news agency writes.

Xi Jinping pointed out three years ago he and the U.S. president Barack Obama agreed to work together to develop a new type of relations between China and the US as the major powers. The results achieved over the past three years in the framework of bilateral relations indicate this way fully meets the basic interests of both the two countries’ people and humankind as a whole.

Xi Jinping voiced a hope to hold another meeting with president Obama within the framework of the September G20 summit in Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province, East China) to continue the exchange of opinions on issues of mutual interest in a fundamentally important questions. China and the United States should strengthen the joint coordination of national macroeconomic policy lines to achieve maximum possible outcomes from the Hangzhou summit.

China and the U.S. should direct their efforts toward extension of cooperation between all the population groups and all the regions of the countries, the publication states.

“As for some differences that remain between China and the United States, the key thing here is a mutual respect for the fundamental interests, upholding of positions through the dialogue and consultations, to avoid diverging from the right path. China and the US can do a lot. The parties shall do more in the interest of the China-US cooperation,” the report says.

In their turn, John Kerry and Jacob Lew said B. Obama hopes to hold a meeting with Xi Jinping during his visit to China to attend the G20 summit this September.

“The U.S. government is confident that the bilateral cooperation has a big potential hidden and the parties can resolve the disputes in a due manner,” the text said.
