Almaty. April 24. Silkroadnews - Yemen "categorically and totally" rejected the plan to settle the conflict between the government and Shiite rebels (Huthis) proposed by Iran, reported IrTAG with reference to the Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Khaled al-Yemane in a letter to the UN Security Council.
At the same time he asks the Security Council "to demand from the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop interfering in the affairs of Yemen".
According to the Permanent Representative, Iran "has never been a neutral mediator of peace in Yemen".
"It is well known that Iran is fueling sectarian strife through the formation, training and equipping militia Huthis with weapons in accordance with its expansionist goals in our region", - said the diplomat.
He expressed confidence that the conflict in his country can be settled only on the condition that Huthis will "stop open war against the population of Aden" and other cities in the country, and will also follow the UN Security Council resolution.
As earlier reported, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, outlining the plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Yemen. The plan consists of 4 items: an end to violence, to ensure humanitarian access, launch of interyemen dialogue and formation of a government of national unity.
Tehran believes that all efforts to find a way out of the crisis, in particular the UN, must be based on these parameters.
