According to Alfa Bank, "in the last months of the year, the yuan remains popular and relevant currency". Bank deposits for a wide range of customers will be mostly offered by the Far Eastern Bank. However, regionality of such products may soon be challenged by the ambitious plans of the large banks, especially Sberbank.
So, in 2016 Chairman of the Board of Sberbank of Russia German Gref promised to launch yuan deposits to the population.
Other large banks are cautiously studying the prospects of the yuan in the market.
At the same time in the corporate banking and trade finance yuan will gain momentum faster. According to a senior managing director - director of trade finance and correspondent banking of Sberbank CIB Andrey Ivanov, the bank sees great potential in yuan products and plans to develop them in 2016.
