UN Secretary-General recommended Tajikistan to adopt a national action plan on human rights

Almaty. June 10. Silkroadnews - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recommended Tajikistan to adopt a national plan of action for human rights, reports the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) on Wednesday.
Ban Ki-moon noted the achievements of Tajikistan in the fight against poverty and assured readiness of UN to support the efforts to resolve the problems in the sphere of human rights.
According to him, the strengthening of national coordination mechanisms and the implementation of the recommendations of the United Nations, in cooperation with civil society, will be an important contribution to the preparation of Tajikistan to the universal review of the human rights situation in its second round. The survey is conducted by working group of the UN Council on Human Rights.
UN Secretary-General recommended the authorities of Tajikistan to adopt a national action plan on human rights.
Speaking at the international conference "Water for Life", Ban Ki-moon stressed that access to drinking water and sanitation services is a priority in the development of all countries of the world.
He also stressed the importance of achieving a regional consensus on management of trans boundary water resources reserves in Central Asia.
Recall, UN Secretary-General arrived in Tajikistan on Tuesday. He took part in the international conference "Water for Life", met with Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and other officials of the country.
