“As at 02:00 p.m. on October 19 typhoon “Sarika” affected 1.55 million residents of Hainan Province in South China”, the publication says.
It is noted that 474 thousand people were forced to leave for safe areas, more than 2600 buildings were damaged. About 81,700 hectares of crops were hit, leaving 17,000 hectares certain to suffer total failure this year. Direct economic losses have reached 2.62 billion yuan.
The 21st in succession this year typhoon “Sarika” hit Hainan on Tuesday morning bringing heavy rains.
