Beijing. May 11. Silkroadnews - After the Taliban militants seized Tala Wa Barfak district in the northern province of Baghlan, nearly 100 security force members have been surrounded and blocked by Taliban, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports citing representatives of the province’s officials.
To remind, on Tuesday morning the district was attacked by large militant forces. Reportedly, dozens of Taliban fighters have come from Samangan, Kunduz and Baghlan provinces to fight government forces in the area.
According to the latest information, the security forces have lost at least 11 people killed, a significant part of them stays under siege and there is no connection with them so far.
Zabihullah Shuja, spokesman for the provincial police chief, said that local authorities had already sent a request for assistance, including aviation support, to Kabul, yet have not yet received the support requested. With this the province authorities note that six months ago law enforcement agencies had already received a warning about the threat of seizure of several county provinces, but no necessary measures were taken to counter the threat.
