14 migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan have died in a fire at the printing warehouse in Moscow

Almaty. August 29. Silkroadnews – 14 migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan have died in a fire at the printing warehouse in Moscow, KyrTAG reports.

«A fire swept through a printing plant warehouse in Altuf'evskoe shosse in Moscow on August 27, at 07.50 a.m. Moscow time, killing 16 workers, one more person died in a hospital», the publication says.

According to the Russian Emergency Ministry, the fire was caused by a faulty lamp on the first floor of the warehouse. The lamp burst with sparks making the blaze to engulf the ceiling. Inflammation was instantaneous. All the victims at this time were on the fourth floor of a building in a dressing room while changing into their work clothes. With abrupt fire outbreak people did not have time to leave the building and died cause of carbon monoxide. The investigative authorities launched a criminal case under part 3 art.219 (failure to comply with fire safety rules, resulting in the death of two or more persons) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, all 14 victims are Kyrgyz citizen at the age of 18 to 45 years. Another three Kyrgyz citizens delivered to the medical institutions of Moscow and their conditions are described as critical.

Among the victims there are also three citizens of Russia.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev ordered to send a special aircraft to deliver the dead Kyrgyz female citizens to the homeland and provide the bereaved families with due financial aid. The government of the Kyrgyz Republic will cover all the costs on the delivery of bodies and funeral arrangements.

By the Kyrgyz president's decree, August 29 is announced as the Day of Mourning in the republic.
