14 policemen killed in Taliban attack in southern Afghanistan
Almaty. December 15. Silkroadnews - At least 14 policemen were killed in attack by Taliban militants, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
According to Tolo news, referring to the sources in government, the police were ambushed by militants in Kandahar province. Representative of the Taliban movement Yusuf Ahmadi confirmed the fact of the attack. The militants also managed to seize weapons, ammunition and vehicles of the policemen killed.
Reportedly, a significant strengthening of extremist positions has recently been noted in the eastern and southern Afghan provinces (Logar, Nangarhar, Helmand), as well as in the north of the republic (in Kunduz, Jauzjan and Parvan). At the same time, the field commanders and militants of radical groups increasingly swear allegiance to the terrorist group “Islamic State”.
