416 Chinese athletes will take part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro

Almaty. July 18. Silkroadnews – China is sending 416 athletes, including 35 Olympic champions to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Xinhua reported.

The statement was made by Cai Zhenhua, deputy director of China’s General Administration of Sport. According to him, this will be “the largest ever Olympic delegation China has sent overseas”.

The Chinese Olympic team will include 160 men and 256 women, who will compete in 210 events over 26 sports. In total, the delegation will consist of 711 members, including 29 foreign coaches. The youngest athlete is 14-year-old Ai Yanhan, the swimmer in the women’s 200m freestyle. The “oldest” athlete in the team is Bejing 2008 Olympics shooting champion Chen Ying, 39-year-old.

China is expecting a haul of gold medals from traditionally strong sports such as table tennis, badminton, gymnastics, weightlifting, shooting and diving.
