5,759 officials were punished in China this April for violating rules of austerity

Beijing. May 28. Silkroadnews - The top anti-graft body of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said that 5,759 officials were punished in April for violating Party austerity rules, “People’s Daily” reports.
According to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China, there were 3,922 such misdemeanors with officials’ involvement. The award of an unauthorized allowance or bonus was the most common misdemeanor, followed by giving or acceptance of gifts and misuse of the public vehicles provided.
Reportedly, a total of 19,900 officials who participated in 14,012 cases were punished in the first four months of 2018.
To remind, at the end of 2012, the CPC released eight paragraphs of the austerity rules to reduce undesirable work practices.
Besides, the disciplinary commission has a monthly reporting system on the implementation of the austerity rules within the provincial governments, central party and government agencies, centrally managed state enterprises and central financial institutions.
