5th round of meetings of discussing of evaluation studies of Rogun starts in Tajikistan on July 14

Dushanbe. June 18. Silkroadnews - 5th round of meetings of discussing of evaluation studies of Rogun starts from July 14 with representatives of the riparian countries concerning the proposed Rogun project in Tajikistan, the Tajik news agency reports (TajikTA).
“The meetings will be devoted to discussing of the latest preliminary surveys and reports prepared under evaluation studies with stakeholders representing the river basin, including Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan,” - says the publication.
Reports will cover such issues like safety of the dam and the risks in the design; water resources management and operation of the reservoir; economic and financial analysis; environmental and social impacts on people.
The reports will also provide the analysis of alternatives to the proposed project of Rogun dam, environmental management plan and further research.
The final results of evaluative studies of Rogun will be announced after receipt and careful consideration of the comments of representatives of riparian countries, civil society and local communities affected by the project.
