Almaty. April 3. Silkroadnews - Tunnel on an alternative road "North-South" will require $60-62 million, reported the Minister of Transport and Communications Kalykbek Sultanov.
"The first phase of construction of the alternative road "North-South" is planned to be completed by the end of 2017. The greatest difficulties are related to the construction of tunnels, as in the practice, the Ministry of Transport does not have experience of building such facilities on the slopes. Tunnel will require $60-62 million", - quotes KyrTAG K.Sultanov at a meeting of the parliamentary faction "Ata Meken" on Friday.
According to him, the total length of the road "North-South" will be 433 km.
"Construction of the road is divided into three phases. We decided not to build a road in the old route through the pass Sarykyr due to adverse climatic conditions. Therefore, we have chosen a different direction of the road - through Kogart to Kazarman. This is a more convenient way down from the mountain, there is no much steep sections of the road",- said the Minister.
According to him, in these parts of the road will be built two tunnels. One will be always used for traffic, and the second will be spare. Also in the second phase of construction of the road from Kazarman to the Aral Sea is planned to build five tunnels.
