80 falcons released on Kazakh nature reserve

Astana. May 15. Silkroadnews – 80 falcons that were brought from the United Arab Emirates are released in Mangistau Province, as the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources informs.
The birds had an adaptation period for several weeks during which they were introduced to local climate and open spaces. All this time the falcons were abundantly fed. The birds are now being observed. Before releasing them in nature, some of the birds were fitted with radio sensors. This will allow to track their migration.
The event took place within the framework of cooperation between Kazakh Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Environment and Water, as the message states.
20 peregrine falcons are to be released in Mangistau Province on the 16th of May. Another 19 Saker falcons are to be released on the 17th of May in East Kazakhstan Province.
The total of 340 falcons were released in East Kazakhstan Province within the framework of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UAE in 2009-2013.
