84% of Kazakhstani supports the country's participation in the Customs Union and Common Economic Space - research

Almaty. September 23. Silkroadnews - 84% of Kazakhstani supports the country's participation in the integration organizations of the Customs Union (CU) and the Common Economic Space (CES), informs the press service of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
"In Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus recorded a high level of public acceptance of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space: 84%, 79% and 68% respectively", - stated in the information disseminated on Tuesday.
As noted, these data were obtained from the third wave of the study preferences of the population of the CIS countries on various aspects of Eurasian integration, conducted by the Center for Integration Studies EDB together with the international research agency "Eurasian Monitor".
"Among the countries that are not members of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, the highest public support for plans to accede to them was recorded in Tajikistan (72%) and Uzbekistan (68%)", - the report says.
The level of support is above average in the state identified as a candidate for membership in the Eurasian Economic Community (EEC) - Armenia (64%). At the same time support in Uzbekistan joining the CU for the year decreased by 9%, and in Tajikistan and Armenia - by 3%.
"In Kyrgyzstan, who intends to join the EEC followed by Armenia, the level of public support for the prospects of the entry into the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space for the year dropped significantly - from 67% to 50%, and the negative attitude doubled, which is a wake-up call", - stated in the text .
In this interesting fact to support conservation prospects for joining the CU-EEC by more than half of Georgia's population (53%). But here, for the year level of approval fell by 6%, and a negative attitude grew by 7%.
"In Moldova, the preference towards a possible entry into the vehicle is 49% of the total number of respondents (down 5%), against - 23% (up 7%)" - reads the information.
Meanwhile, if last year's level of support for the prospects of participation in the Eurasian economic integration was low only in Azerbaijan (in the CIS region), but this year joined Ukraine.
"In Ukraine, for the year support for a possible integration to the vehicle decreased from 50% to 31%, with an increase in negative attitudes towards such prospects from 28% to 50%. Azerbaijan trend has not changed: the already low support hypothetical accession to the CU for the year decreased even more - from 37% to 22%, and a negative attitude increased from 53% to 64% ", - explained in the report.
Thus, according to the authors of the study, the two countries are becoming more closed with respect to the Eurasian integration project.
The study surveyed more than 13 thousand citizen among 10 countries of the CIS and Georgia - 1-2 thousand people in each country.
Recall that, according to a similar study conducted in 2013, the level of public acceptance of CU and CES last year in Kazakhstan was 73%, in Russia - 67% in Belarus - 65%.
