Almaty. 28 January. Silkroadnews - A 144-hour visa-free entry shall be introduced for transit passengers from 51 countries in the Yangtze River delta, the newspaper “People’s Daily” informs.  
“With the approval of the State Council, as of January 30, 2016, in all the open to foreign countries marine, land and air checkpoints of Shanghai and air checkpoints of Nanjing (the administrative center of Jiangsu Province) and Hangzhou (capital of Zhejiang Province) a 144-hour visa-free entry is introduced for citizens of 51 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, USA, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Republic of Korea,” said in a statement.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, citizens of these countries will be able to stay in Shanghai, as well as in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, located in the Yangtze River Delta, for 144 hours without the necessity to get a Chinese visa.
Visa-free entry is relevant for transit passengers who travel to the third country or region of transit through the specified areas checkpoints.
In 2013, in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing was introduced a 72-hour visa-free entry for the transit passengers from 51 countries.
