Almaty. January 14. Silkroadnews - A forced migration will be the greatest global risk within the next 10 years, the report of the World Economic Forum states.
“Almost 750 experts evaluated 29 potential risks in terms of both the impact and the probability for the next 10 years. A losing battle against the climate change will likely to have the biggest impact in 2016. For the first time since 2006, the environmental risks are at the top of agenda”, a press release on the results of a study published at the forum site on Thursday states.
It is also noted that the degree of influence of the environmental risks in 2016 will surpass the mass destruction weapon (ranking the first), water shortage (ranking the 3rd), forced migration (4th place) and changes in energy prices (5th place). The list also continues with the reduction of biodiversity and destruction of ecosystems, financial crises, spread of infectious diseases, economic bubbles and social instability.
Top 10 list of the most likely risks include forced migration, extreme weather conditions, unsuccessful fight against climate change, international conflicts, natural disasters, inefficient local governments, unemployment, theft of data and cybercrimes, water shortages and illegal trading.
In terms of business, the greatest threat to Kazakhstan, Canada, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and some African countries is the change in energy prices, China, Australia, Sweden, Norway and several countries in Southeast Asia - economic bubbles, the US - a cyber-attack, Ethiopia - famine, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Madagascar, Mauritania - inefficiency of local government, Mongolia - a crisis of governance, Pakistan - the threat of terrorist attacks. From the point of view of extreme weather conditions, the most affected business is the one in Philippines.
