A single tariff is planned to be applied on the Trans-Caspian route
Almaty. May 5. Silkroadnews – At the regular session in Baku the members of the working group on development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route discussed the use of competitive unified tariffs, Trend reports.
As noted, the Wednesday meeting was attended by the delegations of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.
“The parties discussed the use of competitive tariffs for the Trans-Caspian international route and rules of container traffic organization along the route Dostyk/Altyngel-Aktau-Baku (Alat)-Batumi. In addition, the parties discussed the work plan on the newly established consortium of Trans-Caspian international route. The due protocol is expected to be signed following the meeting,” the head of press-service of JSC “Azerbaijan Railways” Nadir Azmammadov said.
In April the agreement on the Trans-Caspian international transport consortium between the railway authorities of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia was signed in Baku.
The consortium members are Azerbaijan LLC “ADY Express” and ACSC Logistics, Kazakhstani JSC “KTZ Express” and Georgian LLC “Trans Caucasus Terminals”. The Supervisory Board includes one representative from each member of the consortium, the deputy head of the “Azerbaijan Railways” Igbal Huseynov was elected as the chairman.
In January Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Ukraine signed a protocol on the establishment of competitive reduced tariffs for cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian international transport route.
The Trans-Caspian international transport route passes through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and then through Turkey and Ukraine – to Europe. The first test container train on the route Shihezi (China)-Dostyk-Aktau-Alat arrived in Baku International Sea Trade Port on August 3, 2015.
