Almaty. October 4. Silkroadnews – The head of the State Inspectorate for veterinary and phytosanitary issues Kalysbek Zhumakanov explained why Kyrgyzstan cannot export meat to other countries.

«Many people think the problem that we cannot export our livestock products, including meat, is only with the laboratories. There is another part of the problem though. Throughout the world, including Kyrgyzstan, home-slaughter of animals is prohibited. If a farmer-producer wants to sell the meat, this farmer should apply to slaughter-units. And these slaughterhouses have to be included within in the EEU unified registry, Veterinary Service of Kyrgyzstan shall issue a license to the slaughterhouses. This is the only way to be allowed to export meat», K. Zhumakanov said at the press conference on Tuesday.

According to him, there is only one company in Kyrgyzstan that meets all the requirements.

«Earlier 15 companies of Kyrgyzstan could export their products to the EEU countries, we have inspected another 7 companies and sent a letter to Russia and Kazakhstan to include them into the additional list. This slaughterhouse has also been included», he added.

«According to our calculations, each district must have at least one point of slaughter, each region must have at least one meat processing company. The meat is to be collected from slaughterhouses of each district, and the region should be in charge for processing. Only after that we will have the right to prescribe veterinary certificates for the products. Entrepreneurs could build such slaughterhouses», K. Zhumakanov said.
