ADB to invests $300 million in construction of solar power plant in Afghanistan

Almaty. May 3. Silkroadnews – The Asian Development Bank ADB will invest $300 million in infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, among them there are construction of a solar power plant in Nangarhar and reconstruction of a number of highways, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
According to the bank country director in Afghanistan Thomas Panella, a $50 million power plant will generate up to 100 MW of electricity. A power transmission line will also be constructed to distribute electricity between consumers.
The power plant construction project is expected to decrease a problem of power shortage the eastern provinces of Afghanistan run into, the Afghan deputy minister of energy and water affairs Amanullah Ghalib believes.
